Poster Award of EAFES5 & ESJ59

The EAFES5 organizing committee and ESJ59 program committee will give awards to several young researchers presenting excellent posters. Each winner must be the principal author of the poster presentation.

Applicant eligibility

Undergraduate students, graduate students, and research students are welcome to apply for the poster award. All researchers having a Ph.D. degree as of November 10, 2011 are ineligible to apply for the award.

Type of awards

  1. The Most Outstanding Poster Award (1st prize across all subject fields)
  2. Best Poster Award (1st prize in each subject field)
  3. Excellent Poster Award (2nd prize in each subject field)

"Best Poster Award" will be given for 0-2 outstanding presentations and "Excellent Poster Award" for a few runner-up best presentations in each subject field. From the winners of these awards, five outstanding presentations will be selected as ˇČThe Most Outstanding Poster Award" at the end of the three-day poster session. Winners of The Most Outstanding Poster Award will receive a one-year license for online access to any one of the following three journals: Philosophical Transactions B, Proceedings B, or Biology Letters from Royal Society Publishing (online version only).

Judgment

Every poster presentation is evaluated by three or more judges nominated by the EAFES5 organizing committee and ESJ59 program committee in each subject field. The judges will visit your poster during the core time and rate your presentation, so the applicant is asked to stand by his/her poster during the core time. Judgment criteria are as follows: EAFES5 organizing committee and ESJ59 program committee will give awards to young investigators of several excellent posters.

Judgment criteria are as follows:

Information of poster

  1. Title is descriptive of the contents.
  2. Background is clear and concise.
  3. Story is well-ordered and obvious.
  4. Text and graphics are legible, and effective colors are used.

Quality of study

  1. Novelty and originality of the study.
  2. Data are collected accurately and analyzed appropriately.
  3. The results and discussion are reasonable and proper.

Communication ability

  1. Speaking volume and speed are appropriate.
  2. English speaking ability is not taken into account.
