Characteristic of soil respiration in various ecosystems in Korean cool-temperate region

Jaeseok LEE (Konkuk Univ., Korea)

We intend to evaluate change of characteristics of soil respiration in various Korean ecosystem using continuous, potable, and laboratory measurement systems. High resolution soil respiration rate (Rs) data has been employed to accurately determine values and analyze the relationships between Rs characteristics and various events in different environments. To comprehend the available parameters used to calculate the ecosystem carbon budget in various Korean ecosystems, we are monitoring continuous changing of Rs using the automatic opening/closing chambers (AOCC) in immature deciduous forest (Yanggu), mature deciduous forest (Gwangneung), planted coniferous forest (Gwangju). From these continues measurement sites, we attempt to evaluate the temporal and diurnal efflux mechanisms, as well as daily and seasonal trends in Rs related to environmental factors for their important roles in simulating regional or global carbon cycle dynamics. To understand the relationship of key environmental factor and Rs, controlled in vitro experiments are needed in combination with field measurements. We explored the relationships between Rs and the key environmental factors of soil temperature using a laboratory incubation method. In this presentation, we hope to introduce its measurement system and characteristic of soil respiration in some Korean ecosystems.
