New Trend of Spatial dhoEcology in Vegetation Science

Nobukazu NAKAGOSHI (Hiroshima University)

Biodiversity and its habitat conservation is one of the important issue for evaluation of landscape quality (Nakagoshi, 2011). Up to the present/ Sept. 2011, total 29 sites were booked as the important cultural landscape in Japan. Judgment of registration effect on conservation of biodiversities in cultural landscapes is necessary for sustainable management of cultural landscapes. In the last 6 years, each proposal site was investigated on landscape value and was summarized as the research report. For future monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem services in cultural landscapes, biological/ecological data are essential. From this point of view, I checked these items and classified as well documented: A, generally informed: B, and null documented: C. Results are followed among 29 sites (multiple counts). Category 1-1: Arable lands A=4 and B=10, 1-2: grasslands B=1 and C=2, 1-3: forests A=1 and B=7, 1-4: fishery B=1 and C=3, 1-5: water use A=2, B=9 and C=3, and 2: mixture landscape B=10 and C=6. The report from Ichinoseki Hondera is the best for future monitoring of biodiversity conservation among the all. I hope the report full documented on biodiversity will be accepted by Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan. Reference: Nakagoshi, N.
