How fertility of agricultural soils has been changed?

Mishima, S. (NIAES) et al.

Fertilization is one of the essential for agricultural practices. Sustain and increase soil fertility is important key for sustainable food production. However, over fertilization would cause negative environmental impacts such as pollution of ground and surface water, greenhouse gas emission, easy invasion of alien species etc. Therefore, keep appropriate soil fertility is important for environmentally conscious agriculture. By analyzing fixed point survey done by Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries done for 25 years long, we assess and changes in fertilizer applications and response of soil fertility N and P in paddy field and vegetable field in Japanese national scale on different soil group.
