The study was carried out to evaluate and compare the litterfall dynamics of Rhizophora stylosa, Kandelia obovata and Bruguiera gymnorrhiza belonging to the family Rhizophoraceae in Manko Wetland, Okinawa, Japan, over three years. These three species showed the highest leaf and stipule litterfalls in summer and the lowest in winter. Flower and fruit litterfalls of R. stylosa showed the highest peak in July, while K. obovata showed the highest peak in July and October – November. Flower bud, flower and propagule litterfalls of B. gymnorrhiza fluctuated throughout the year with the highest peak in September. Propagule litterfalls of R. stylosa and K. obovata showed the highest peak in July and May, respectively. The conversion percentage of flower to propagule was 2.3% in R. stylosa, 5.4% in K. obovata and 10.3% in B. gymnorrhiza. Mean annual total litterfall was not significantly different between K. obovata and B. gymnorrhiza, but significantly different between these two species and R. stylosa. The litterfall components of vegetative organs except for branch and reproductive organs except for flower bud primordium of the three species showed around one year cycle.
