Economic evaluation of fuelwood forests threatened by

In recent years, "naragare", that is Japanese oak wilt, happen in most area of Japan frequently. Main species threatened by naragare, Quercus crispula and Quercus crispula, are trees that were used as firewood and charcoal, but now their forests is not used because their market values are quite low. Naragare is caused by giving up fuelwood forests management.

Though market value of timber of trees threatened by naragare is low, their various ecosystem services are considered important, so nation and province attempt to protect their ecosystem services from naragare. However, quantitative economic evaluations of ecosystem services of old fuelwood forests are hardly not studied.

In this study, I evaluated total economic value (TEV) of old fuelwood forests threatened by naragare by using an environmental evaluation method; conjoint analysis.
