distribution of pollination service by honeybees and hoverflies in suburban landscapes

SEKI,H.(Yokohama National Univ.)

Pollinators such as honey bees and hover flies play an important role for any plants. This is called pollination service and provide one of the ecosystem services for local plants. It is probable that the degree of pollination service is between various kind of land use: industrial area surrounding sea, residential area, paddy field, arable area and forest area. The purpose of this study is to elucidate that the pollination services vary along urban-rural gradient.

Honey bees and hover flies were collected by sweeping nets from April to November in 2012. Research areas were following five regions in Kanagawa prefecture: Satoyama region located in Oiso, Naka-gun in Kanagawa; arable field located in Miura peninsula; paddy field located in Hiratsuka city; residential area in Hodogaya-ku, Yokohama city; landfill area in Daikokuhuto, Kawasaki city.

A total of 1606 individuals were collected at the five regions, two orders, sixteen families.
