Roadkill events were recorded, but studies of indirect impact on land hermit crab through continuing urbanization of seashore in Taiwan are absence. To make sure how human activity would impacted on population sustention of land hermit crab species through environmental change, survey for land hermit crab distribution and clarifying key environmental factors for land hermit crab are needed. Past studies demonstrated temperature, humidity, light, fresh water, sea water and shell may be limiting factors in family Coenobitidae. Deforestation and construction under urbanization may lead to loss of microenvironment, and pavement for reproduction and recruitment, which provide above environmental factors. This research will set traps in Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area, to survey the relative abundance, and to test the correlation with environmental factors like water flow, geology, terrain, vegetative, coast etc. Selected environmental factors would be a valuable reference for seashore landscape management which consider habitat conservation for land hermit crab species in Taiwan.
