The reason why I chose this problem is because plastic waste treatment is a very serious issue. Through this investigation we can tell whether people's awareness will affect separation. behavior Also, the rules of plastic waste separation in Japan are very strict as well. We can analysis citizens' behavior, that will show how effective those rules work and provide strategies for improving plastic waste treatment that leads to sustainable local development.
I make questionnaire to get the relevant data. I mainly collected data from high school students in Osaka international school. The questions included environmental awareness, plastic waste separation and the biggest barrier to separating plastic waste in their household. By collecting these data to analysis, we can get the relationship between public environmental awareness and actual household plastic sorting behavior.
I found that most of the students have a good understanding of how to care for the environment and separating plastic waste. Also, lots of students think that the biggest barrier is the inconvenience on processing plastic waste and there is only one day to throw the plastic waste in a week.
This investigation identified the key factors influencing the effectiveness of waste treatment process by analyzing the relationship between public environmental awareness and household plastic separation process. These findings provide a basis for Moriguchi City to develop more targeted environmental education and outreach strategies, such as enhancing sorting knowledge dissemination and reducing operational inconveniences. This approach aims to increase resident participation, promote effective plastic waste recycling, and advance local sustainable development.
